AKS STUDENT LEADER SHINES AT UMUDIKE; MAKES CASE FOR NON-INDEGENES AT FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OWNED INSTITUTIONS

The Chairperson, Joint Campus Committee (JCC) of NANS Akwa Ibom zone, Comrade Otobong Aquila Akpan was honoured  penultimate Friday at the Federal University of Agriculture, Umudike.
The Akwa Ibom state born Student union leader, who was decorated with the NAKISS AWARD OF HONOUR by the National Association Of Akwa Ibom State Students dedicated the award to the Akwa Ibom state Governor - Mr. Udom Emmanuel.

She said the governor's resounding victory at the polls had indeed justified the massive support and contributions that the entire Akwa Ibom Students community under her leadership had given to Mr Emmanuel even against massive opposition and criticism. She urged Akwa Ibom Students, youths and indeed the entire citizens of the state to continue supporting the Udom Emmanuel led administration so as to reap multiple dividends of democracy.

Speaking further,  Comrade Akpan encouraged federal government owned tertiary institutions to encourage and create enabling environments for non indigenes to contest for, and occupy leadership positions in the institutions.

Speaking with our correspondent, a student leader in the NANS JCC Chairperson's entourage said Comrade Aquila Akpan isn't strange to awards and honours by student communities. He stated that a few weeks earlier, at the SUG week of the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Comrade Akpan bagged an Award of excellence from the leadership of the institution.

Also speaking on the leadership qualities of the Ini LGA born strong woman, our source stated in clear terms that Comrade Aquila 's strong leadership traits could be described as exemplary.

It can be recalled that the Student Leader led other student leaders in the state to donate 100 million naira to the campaigns of the then PDP standard bearer in the state, Deacon Udom Emmanuel, a gesture that earned Comrade Aquila the promise of SA on Students Matters from the Governor.
